Psycho-education

Psycho-education refers to the process of providing education and information to those involved in a therapeutic process. This is an essential component of a therapeutic intervention. When a person is well informed about an issue, there is an increased sense of control and a reduction of stress. Psycho-education is likely to be ongoing throughout the treatment process. When working with children, Leanne provides psycho-education  to parents in addition to their child’s therapy.

Psycho-education is useful in understanding a diagnosis, treatment options and formulating goals. When working with children, Leanne provides education in consideration of the child’s developmental stage and their individual needs.

Psycho-education can extend to parents, siblings, extended family, teachers and others involved in the client’s day-to-day life.
